3 AM is the wrong time to first think about this situation. The Personal Protection in the Home class discusses safety issues, awareness, and legal ramifications of having to defend yourself in your home.
In addition to shooting, this class covers self defense principles including increased personal awareness, defensive mindset, legal issues, quick decision-making, and planning to avoid, prevent, and survive a violent confrontation.
The Personal Protection in the Home course is designed for using a pistol defensively.
You will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection in the Home handbook and instruction on defensive pistol shooting, self-defense issues, and strategies to protect your home and family.
8 hours minimum,10 is more realistic
This class is not for beginning shooters. Proof of previous training is required, whether it be through demonstrating proficiency to the instructor or presenting a course completion certificate from prior training class.
The course is both physically and mentally demanding.
To earn the course completion certificate, you must pass a written exam on the lecture material and shoot adequately.
You will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home handbook and instruction on defensive pistol shooting, self-defense issues, and strategies to protect your home and family.
14 hours minimum, 16-18 is more realistic
This class is not for beginning shooters. Proof of previous training is required, whether it be through demonstrating proficiency to the instructor or presenting a course completion certificate from prior training class. You must possess the gun handling and safety skills taught in the NRA Personal Protection in the Home class.
The course is both physically and mentally demanding.
To earn the course completion certificate, you must pass a written exam on the lecture material and shoot adequately.
The tools you chose could save your life! Choose wisely.
Have a plan and practice it. Make sure that everyone in your family knows what to do.
Be aware and prepare. Having the proper mindset can help you deal with the aftermath of a violent encounter.
Use outside lighting and well trimmed landscaping to help deter intruders from hiding in your yard.
